  • How do I plane end grain?
    If you imagine wood fibres are drinking straws bundled together - if you pass a plane across the top they will separate at the ends. One soloution is to plane a small bevel on oe edge which supports the fibres.
  • Is there a difference in sharpening the blades of chisels and planes?
    No, there are two angles; a grinding angle of 25 degrees and a sharpening angle of 35 degrees

  • How do I make joints fit tightly?
    The aim is to get a perfect fit first time and that means cutting the joint slightly oversize. The difference is the thickness of a ballpoint pen line (which is superior to a pencil which blunts as it draws.
