Negation fuelling motivation

Losing his mother at birth Jeremy's life path has been different to most others. With discouragement from an overly strict academic father who didn't want a son who would use his hands for a living, Jeremy scraped by at Chippenham Grammar school and was then rescued by an uncle and sent to Abbotsholme Independent Progressive school. There by chance a brilliant and somewhat eccentric woodwork teacher - Howard Orme, inspired him and Jeremy became Abbotsholme's first GCE A level Woodwork student gaining A grade in just two terms rather than two years. Jeremy then followed in Howard's footsteps and trained at Shoreditch College as a Handicrafts teacher gaining a distinction on the Advanced Wood course. He is self-taught as a designer maker. The ideas flourish from a liberated soul and the desire to share the gift of creativity.

Celebrating excellence in
design and craftsmanship

Jeremy Broun has exhibited alongside John Makepeace (who led late 20th Century innovative furniture design) for over three decades. Here he is pictured at the Irish CREATE 2005 event organized by Joseph Walsh where he, John Makeapeace (left) and his old Shoreditch College friend Andrew Varah (right) were invited to speak.

Apart from woodworking Jeremy Broun has a passion for the guitar and for owning and restoring interesting cars and motorcycles.
