What was Charles' reaction when sitting on my chair? He remarked to a Crafts Council agent: "I didn't realize this kind of thing was going on in the country." Historically, royalty had always patronised the avant-garde. Occurring when the designer-maker revolution was at its zenith, his comment laid bare just how much the royal establishment was disconnected from ordinary people.
