The band was brought together by Jen Carruthers, an ex woodworking student of Jeremy Broun's. She already knew David Vigar and Jay Simms who played together and Jen suggested they filled in a closing jam session Jez was doing at The Bath International Festival Party in the City.

The venue Vino Vino then invited them to play again so the band was formed. The only band Jez had played in was as bass guitarist of a school band playing Shadows songs. The idea of mixing musical genres led to the band name.
